Music Production

Aim

In 2007 the Music Department implemented a course in Music Production aimed specifically for boys who are not necessarily interested in playing a musical instrument but would prefer instead to study the music industry and computers used to generate electronic music.

A local music producer, Joshua Gray, offered to teach boys the use of a music-sequencing programme called Reason. These lessons take place in the afternoons.

In 2009 the music department acquired a number of computers with Reason 3.1 installed on each, as well other music software used for Subject Music. These are in the Music IT Laboratory at the music block. To date, approximately 40 boys are registered for the course and are taught in classes of six boys per lesson.
