Holiday Swimming Achievements

The Hilton College Swimming Club is proud of their swimmers for some fine achievements at galas that were held in the holidays. Rubin Cloete (club captain) qualified at the KZN Provincial Championships for the South African Senior National Championships which will be held at the Kings Park Swimming Complex in Durban in April. Sean Gunn represented Zimbabwe at the Sub-Saharan Championships. Sean did his country and his school proud by swimming outstandingly well to win numerous medals including Gold. Baba Adejuyigbe also did outstandingly well at the Gauteng provincial championships, where, despite being out of age, he qualified for the finals in the 50m breaststroke. In the process Baba also qualified for the SA Youth Championships also being held in Durban in April.

Dale Russell and Clayton Prowse also travelled to Germiston for the Gauteng Championships in December and enjoyed a highly successful gala achieving many finals and personal best times. Clayton won a bronze medal at the Championship. Sean, Clayton, Baba and Dale will all compete at the SA Age Group National Championships in March having qualified for this competition.

On the first weekend of term some of our swimmers competed at the Regional Midlands Trials. The boys did very well and 8 swimmers were selected to represent Midlands at the KZN Trials on Sunday 21 February. Well done to the following boys: Joshua Parsons, James Bezuidenhout, Baba Adejuyigbe, Carlson Masaemura, Clayton Prowse, Dale Russell, Sean Gunn and Rubin Cloete.
